eCommerce Website Design for Modern Contemporary Printmaking Artist in Honolulu, HI
Jomac is an active gallery space located in Downtown Honolulu. Jomac uniquely combines traditional techniques of printmaking and relief printing with a visual dynamic that is rooted in contemporary art and updated themes. Jomac’s clientele includes art galleries, interior designers, property developers, fine art collectors, luxury homeowners, and tribal art enthusiasts.
Modern and Contemporary eCommerce Design to Complement Artist
Owner and fine artist, John McCaskill came to W&R looking for a fresh, engaging, creative new online platform for him to use for both the selling and promotion of his artwork, but also to showcase his other artistic services including; interior design, artwork licensing, and custom artwork commissions.
Responsive Website Design
Understanding that Jomac’s clients come from all over the world, we created a design that beautifully responded across all devices, ensuring a smooth and consistent user experience. From custom forms, custom products, and an upcoming event feed, Jomac now has a complete digital platform to reach his clients wherever they are.
The goal was to create an engaging and interactive user experience for Jomac’s target clients across each marketing avenue. As a designer, we knew we wanted to showcase the movement and energy of Jomac’s tribal patterns despite their flat design. Using subtle movements, motion graphics, and artistic mockups, we created a visual journey through each page, showcasing the artist’s work while keeping the viewer engaged through the scroll.
A Custom Bold Typeface
We utilized Jomac’s brand typeface, GPMetro Bold, into the website’s typography styling to create a visual consistency to the brand identity that the artist had been using for years and was well recognized by. This helped us keep a bold look and feel to the website that was already established by their previous designer.
Timeless Meets Modern
The artist’s work features many bright and bold colors, active patterns, and bold shapes. Not wanting to take anything away from the artwork, but instead create a complementary base for the artist’s pieces to shine, we used a timeless and classic black and white color palette for the rest of the website.
Custom Luxe Business Cards
To help celebrate and promote the launch of the website, we partnered with the designer and created custom business cards, using Moo’s 32pt thick Luxe cards. Utilizing Moo’s multi-back design feature, we used a number of Jomac’s more popular pieces for a variety of card designs, complemented by the clean and consistent black and white styling on the front.
Custom Studio Brand Photography with Tracy Wright Corvo Photography
To help showcase the personal nature of Jomac’s artwork, we brought on brand photographer Tracy Wright Corvo to take both in-studio and on-location brand photography. This created a high-quality identity to match the high-quality artwork showcased throughout the website.
“Over the last two decades, I have worked with several web designers and have created my own websites but was never satisfied with the results. With the opening of my new art gallery and studio, I wanted a website that was professional, creative and allowed customers and clients the opportunity to view my art and to see what services I offered. An extensive search and a solid recommendation from Tracy Wright Corvo Photography lead me to Whiskey & Red, and I am thrilled with my new website.”
